Tom’s Bible Reading Plan (2011)

MatureGod’s Word 4 Mature-ity

Take up this Bible Reading Plan and let’s
Mature Together as faithful followers of Jesus.

The Bible:

  • is God’s word to us. It is literally “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16) and is totally reliable and without error.
  • does not change and because mankind’s nature does not change, it is as relevant for us as it was when it was written.
  • is the measuring stick by which we can distinguish truth from error. It tells us what God is like.
  • equips us to serve God (2 Timothy 3:17, Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12).
  • helps us to know how to be saved from our sin and its ultimate consequence (2 Timothy 3:15).

But the Bible is a book that is not merely for reading. It is a book for studying so that it can be applied. Studying the Bible can be compared to mining for gold. If we make little effort and merely “sift through the pebbles in a stream”, we will only find a little gold dust. But the more we make an effort to really dig into it, the more reward we will gain for our effort.

The Book Club will be continuing in 2011 with four new books over the course of the year. Keep an eye out for the dates and stick them in your diary! Also through the year, the group will be discussing some of the books of the Bible to help us mature even further – feel free to join us at any or all of these.
